Editorial Policy
How Plate Reader Guide researches, verifies, classifies, updates, and corrects commercial LPR and ALPR buyer information.
Purpose and scope
Plate Reader Guide publishes buyer research and comparison material for organizations evaluating commercial and private-property LPR and ALPR systems. Our work may include specification comparison, pricing analysis, deployment analysis, system architecture, installation considerations, and decision frameworks.
Source hierarchy
We generally prioritize sources in this order:
- Official vendor documentation, technical manuals, data sheets, support materials, and published pricing.
- Government, regulatory, standards, and public procurement records that directly document a product, price, contract, or requirement.
- Direct vendor statements that can be attributed and checked.
- Reputable secondary reporting and specialist analysis.
- Clearly labeled estimates or editorial analysis when authoritative information is unavailable.
Facts and editorial analysis
Documented specifications, prices, and policies should be presented as facts with appropriate context. Comparisons, tradeoffs, rankings, and recommendations are editorial analysis. We aim to make that distinction clear rather than presenting judgment as a vendor-documented fact.
Verification dates and changing information
Commercial product information changes. Source-sensitive guides should include a last-verified or last-updated date. Readers should use that date to judge freshness and confirm important pricing, compatibility, availability, and installation requirements directly with the vendor before making a decision.
Unknown or undocumented information
If information is not publicly documented, we say that it is unknown, unavailable, or quote-only. We do not fill gaps with invented specifications, prices, test results, customer claims, or vendor statements.
Testing and product experience
Plate Reader Guide does not describe research as hands-on testing, laboratory testing, installation, or direct product use unless that work actually happened and the method is explained. Source review and specification comparison are not presented as physical product testing.
Corrections and updates
Material errors should be corrected when reliable contrary information becomes available. Substantive updates should refresh the page's verification date and, when useful to readers, explain what changed. Minor spelling or formatting corrections may be made without a separate notice.
Commercial independence
Affiliate, referral, advertising, or other commercial relationships do not control factual reporting, inclusion criteria, comparison criteria, or editorial conclusions. Relevant commercial relationships should be disclosed on the affected page.
Pricing classifications
- Published
- A price publicly listed by the vendor or an authorized sales channel and verified at the stated date.
- Estimated
- An editorial range or calculation based on identified assumptions. It is not presented as a vendor quote.
- Procurement-derived
- A figure drawn from a public contract, bid, invoice, or procurement record. Scope, quantity, term, and buyer-specific conditions may limit how broadly it applies.
- Quote-only
- No reliable public price was found, and the vendor requires prospective buyers to request pricing.
